Though not as well-known as Something In The Water, Carrie Underwood's Little Toy Guns is sure to pack a punch.

Carrie Underwood's Unborn Son Shaken By Her Music

Greatest Hits: Decade #1 only included two new songs when it was released back in December, one of which was the tragically themed Little Toy Guns.

Taste of Country provided an in-depth look at the song on Wednesday. Written with Chris DeStefano and Hilary Lindsey, Underwood's lyrics provide a moving and heartbreaking message for listeners on the subject of children and parenting.

"There's a little girl and she hears her parents fighting, as unfortunately a lot of kids do," explained Underwood of the song during an interview with Rolling Stone in November. "So it's basically her saying, 'I wish their words weren't real. I wish they were like little toy guns and they didn't hurt you'."

The song is a particularly poignant one given that Underwood is currently expecting her first child, but what is perhaps most shocking is the song's origin. According to Taste of Country, Little Toy Guns is based on children Underwood has actually known. Their identities, however, remain undisclosed.

Greatest Hits: Decade #1 was released on Dec. 9.

Underwood and husband Mike Fisher, who plays in the NHL for the Nashville Predators, announced that they are expecting their first child together on Sept. 1. The singer will give birth to their baby boy this spring, though the couple have elected to keep the exact due date private for the time being.
