As fans anticipate Star Wars: Episode VII, some good news has been released on the future sequels of the sci-fi series.

Filmmakers Reveal Their 'Ambition' For 'Episode VII'

Episode VII will hit theaters on December 18 while Episodes VIII and IX will hit theaters every other year that follows 2015. VIII is expected to come out in 2017 while IX should come out in 2019.

On Thursday, Star Wars Underworld posted the details from Disney CEO Bob Iger who made it pretty clear that the fans will be in for something amazing.

"As one of the few people allowed to visit the set during filming...and one of the fewer who's seen most of the footage...I can assure the millions of Star Wars fans who have spent the last decade hoping for a new movie this one will be worth the wait," Iger said. "And its only the beginning of a new era of exceptional Star Wars storytelling."

The CEO continued with what's going to happen once audiences get to see Episode VII.

"Next year we'll release our first standalone movie based on these characters, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII in 2017, and we'll finish this trilogy with Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019," he said.

Some actors in Episode VII include Gwendoline Christie, Warwick Davis, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Oscar Isaac and Lupita Nyong'o. Some familiar faces will also be back, including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
