The author of the hugely successful "Fifty Shades Of Grey" novel series revealed the top picks of who she thinks should be cast to play the lead role of Christian Grey.

While author E.L. James attended an event to promote the "Fifty Shades of Grey" album in London, she reportedly admitted that "now every other tweet" is about Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder or Ryan Gosling.

She later retrackted the leak by admitting,"The thing is that if I say I want 'so-and-so' to do it and then they don't want to... it's just best to keep your mouth shut."

"Extra" caught up with Somerhalder, and other cast members from "The Vampire Diaries," to discuss potentially playing the rold of Grey for the film adaptation of the book.

Somerhalder reportedly said, "I can't imagine Universal [Studios] doing that, but that would be very interesting."

He previously said that he is very interested in a role in the movie, and taking on the erotic Grey would not faze him. He told Ryan Seacrest that if he were to be offered a part in the new hot-under-the-collar movie, it would be an "incredible thing."

Openly gay actor Matt Bomer has been considered by many to be one of the front runners to play Christian Grey in the film. However, judging by recent remarks, novelist Bret Easton Ellis would clearly beg to differ.

According to Crushable, an astounding 10,000 people and counting have taken to Facebook to offer their support for the 34-year-old actor, who has not yet responded to the matter.

Bomer is the star of "White Collar," which recently returned to television on Aug. 14 after a short hiatus.
