Children have been making their way onto Downton Abbey with unique stories as the cast and crew members dished on what this journey has been like.

When Is 'Downton Abbey' Going Off The Air?

On Friday, a PBS video was released where executive producer Gareth Neame revealed that one of the main things he's been enjoying about the latest episodes of the British drama was watching the children grow up.

"It's one of the things about season five I like the most is seeing children were born in previous seasons, but now we see the grow up," Neame said. "We see them in a couple scenes carrying dialogue and you have a real sense of this family growing older together and I find that quite moving."

Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith, mentioned something she does for the kids so they won't be alarmed when they have to be around her while filming.

"I always make sure I go and see the beforehand and try and make sure they won't [be] surprised that I show up," the actress said. "I really became close to them and their moms."

Neame then pointed out how different people were in older days when it came to children, which makes it more of a challenge to connect.

"It's very difficult for us to completely relate to parenting at that time," he said. "They were not tactile with their children, they were not glowing and loving of their children the way that we are."
