She's trying to figure out who the mysterious Dr. Mandrake is and why his associate Clint (Lucas Kerr) is keeping tabs on Theresa (Jen Lilley), but Melanie (Molly Burnett) will officially decide she needs help with her investigation on Days of Our Lives.

Melanie Begins Searching For Mandrake

Her search and finding the connection between Lucas and Mandrake hasn't turned up a lot of leads, except for the one Serena (Melissa Archer) gave her about Mandrake being a fertility specialist. Now, Melanie will decide to enlist the help of another journalist-one who always manages to dig up good dirt-by asking Nicole (Arianne Zucker) for help .

Nicole may be hesitant to help initially at first though, since the last time she started digging into someone it lost her Melanie's father, Daniel (Shawn Christian)-but now, Melanie may make her an offer she can't possibly refuse, by offering to talk to her dad and convincing him to give the romance another chance-in exchange for Nicole's help.

Serena Is Pushed To Extreme Measures

Meanwhile, Serena's secret plot to switch Eric's (Greg Vaughan) elephant statue with a different one has hit a major snag after she realizes the original has gone missing from Eric's place-and her strange reaction and insistence that Eric tell her who has it could raise a few red flags in their romance.

However, after remembering the threats made by her unseen accomplices, Serena is genuinely worried now about Eric's safety-as his life has been threatened and is on the line if she can't convince him to get the statue back.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
