There is some great news for fans who like to watch the brutal battle in another dimension. It was revealed that Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 will be released in IMAX 3D.
Variety reported that the movie will be the first in the franchise to be released in that format. Although Part 1 did not screen in 3-D when it was released in other countries, it's 3-D version hit theaters in China. Director Francis Lawrence is excited about the news.
"I'm thrilled Mockingjay - Part 2 will be in Imax theaters," Lawrence told Variety. "Fans will now have the chance to see the film in any format they want, which is exciting; we recently saw the 3-D version of Mockingjay - Part 1 before its release in China, and the new level of immersion was really fantastic."
Deadline reported the movie's billings, and said the movie might be up for comparisons with Catching Fire, which didn't fare as well because its release was timed around Gravity.
The special 3D version of the movie was also released for the Chinese market, which might have been an added incentive for viewers.
Meanwhile, in other news relating to the franchise, it seems likeMockingjay Part 2 might not be the end of it, as was assumed. Den of Geek recently reported that after a new round of calls with investors the search for new stories to continue with the series is on. According to the publication, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated that they were looking for sequel or prequel possibilities. He said that they were "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities" for The Hunger Games.
He went on to add that they were inspired by Warner Bros. move to do something more with the Harry Potter series.
The movie will hit theaters on November 20.
