On Tuesday, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star faced backlash online because of her ongoing friendship with her SUR Lounge employee. In a series of tweets, Vanderpump explained the relationship.

After a fan pointed out that Vanderpump didn't own up to her friendship with Marie when Brandi Glanville confronted her, the housewife explained, "I knew her as an employee and yes she has become closer over pump rules..obviously."

Prior to filming Vanderpump Rules, Vanderpump was Marie's boss, and her close friend Pandora's mother, but as the show continued, Vanderpump and Marie got closer. Around the same time, Vanderpump and Glanville's relationship became strained.

When another fan claimed the relationship between Vanderpump and Glanville would have lasted if Vanderpump cut ties with Marie after learning she was one of the women Glanville's ex-husband was sleeping with behind her back, Vanderpump said she didn't see the point in firing someone because of their past -- especially when she had just met Glanville.

"You don't fire somebody after 5 yrs because you met somebody," she replied.

After season 4, Vanderpump and Glanville officially ended their relationship, and have been on the outs ever since.
