Fans are going to have to say good-bye to the one of the most beloved characters on Downton Abbey.

Are Audiences Going To Be More Connected To 'Downton Abbey' In Season 6?

On Sunday, Radio Times announced via Sunday Times that Maggie Smith, who plays the infamous Dowager, will no longer be on the British drama after the sixth season.

With that being said though, there's a possibility that none of the characters will return since the sixth season could be the last.

Could 'Downton Abbey' Get A Seventh Season?

"They say this is the last one, and I can't see how it could go on," Smith said. "I mean, I certainly can't keep going. To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We're into the late 1920s."

Even though the series has been a massive success, the actress doesn't seem too confident on where she'll go after her time ends there.

"One isn't safe after doing Downton," she said. "What's sad is I've gone through my whole life without any of that. I could go round galleries and things on my own and I just can't do it now. If someone decides to get at you, you can't get away."

Smith then dished on a random subject that some may or may not have been skeptical of- selfies.

"What's awful is it used to be just autographs, but now everyone wants photographs," she said. "You begin to feel like all those people who believed photographs took the soul away. There's nothing like privacy, but nobody will have that soon. Nobody's private anymore."

Downton Abbey Season 6 is expected to air in the United States in early 2016 on PBS.
