Agents of SHIELD's Robert Gonzales will definite have his origins firmly in the SHIELD camp when he makes his debut in "Love in the Time of HYDRA."

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 2 Spoilers: Mockingbird To Reveal Truth to Hunter, Will He Believe Her?

Portrayed by the acclaimed Edward James Olmos, Gonzales will make his first appearance in episode 14. Fans have been pondering Gonzales' allegiance since the casting announcement dropped and Clark Gregg (Coulson) recently confirmed the character's allegiance, or at least who he appeared to support before the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

"He is a SHIELD agent that Coulson was familiar with from their shared past," Gregg said, according to Most News. "He was definitely in a different part of SHIELD when the HYDRA insurrection happened, and they come together and discover what they've both been doing since. More than that, I cannot say."

A former SHIELD allegiance, however, does not necessarily mean Gonzales will be buddy-buddy with Coulson's rebuilt agency.

The only other clue Marvel has dished out regarding Gonzales comes straight from the horse's mouth.

"Well, I'll just put it to you this way: When he smiles, the whole world smiles with him," Olmos told Comic Book Resources.
