Japanese anime characters have long been an obsession for the genre's fans across the world, but one woman has taken her fixation a step further.

Anastasiya Shpagina, 19 years old, is a woman from the Ukraine who has transformed her appearance to become a real-life anime character, and she now calls herself by her anime name, Fukkacumi.

Shpagina posts photos of her extraordinarily unique appearance to her Facebook profile, where she has amassed more than 10,000 likes.

Check out the video below to see Shpagina in motion as her anime character Fukkacumi. She speaks her native Russian in the clip, but seeing her in more than a still photo gives depth to her anime look.

Shpagina reportedly spends about half an hour applying make-up to each eye as she becomes Fukkacumi. Some reports claim the 5-foot-2, 85-pound anime lover is also considering cosmetic surgery to enhance her appearance even further and make her eyes look more like an anime character's.

The teenager hails from Odessa, Ukraine, and she has told reporters that her appearance often raises eyebrows in her hometown. She said she typically gets more fanfare from Japanese tourists who recognize the anime connection and enjoy it. The tourists try and talk with Shpagina, but they usually don't speak Russian, she said.

Some media reports have dubbed Shagina the "new Barbie," but she has rebuked that moniker on one of her social networking profiles.

"I am not like a doll, a doll is like me," she wrote.
