The first look at Paul Reubens' comeback in the new Pee Wee Herman movie was recently revealed.

The actor was spotted filming for the film in Los Angeles and pictures have hit the internet. Reubens is seen looking sharp in a grey suit, with Herman's distinguishing red bowtie. Although Reubens has done sketches and a Broadway adaptation as Pee Wee in recent years, Pee Wee's Big Holiday will be his major comeback.

In what might be a great way to endure to his legacy as Pee Wee Herman for this generation, the actor is pairing up with the comic genius of Judd Apatow, who will be helming the project for Netflix. According to reports this movie will have new characters.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reubens revealed a few details about the film's plot and what fans can expect from it.

"It's a road-trip movie across the country. It's very similar in style and tone to Pee-wee's Big Adventure. But it's not about a bicycle," Reubens said "I never really thought of Big Adventure as a family movie, but I didn't try to make an adult movie or a kid movie. We wanted to make something that appealed to a wide age range, and I think that's the case with this movie also."

He spoke about how excited he was to capture childrens' consciousness as the well-loved character. The actor whose career has seen the transition from traditional mediums of television to the digitised age, also expressed surprise at how the previous seasons of the show being streamed on Netflix were the same as being back on television.

"It's been really really gratifying and exciting, and it's kept me going. The kid's show went back on the air on Netflix right before Christmas. I did not realize the show being on Netflix would be like being back on television," he said. "Every day I get hundreds of notes from people on Facebook and Twitter, all over the place, 'My 3-year-old, my 4-year-old...' and that's super exciting to think that kids are going to see it now who didn't know about it before."
