"He said he was innocent and that he didn't do it and that God would see [him] through," Mercado told the jury.

Mercado told prosecutor William McCauley that her cousin didn't specify where he was on the night Lloyd was murder and she said that she didn't remember the details of their conversation.

The witness said she didn't remember how Hernandez felt about his other cousin Tanya Singleton, refusing to testify against him, but she did say that Hernandez thought she shouldn't be in jail.

Hernandez said Singleton "shouldn't be [in jail] because she's sick, and he said she doesn't know anything," Mercado recalled.

Robby Olivares, Hernandez's former barber and friend, has been called to the witness to testify against the ex- Patriots player.

The Boston Herald reported that Olivares was seen at Rumor Nightclub in Boston with Hernandez and Lloyd on June 14, 2013, just a couple of days before Lloyd was murdered.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the charges surrounding both cases, and he currently remains in the jail without bail.
