Doctors Say Angelina Jolie Did The Right Thing By Removing Female Organs

Jolie won the award for favorite villain for her role in Maleficent but was also up for the favorite actress award. She ended up losing out on the aforementioned award to Emma Stone for her role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Jolie was emotional when accepting her award and spoke to the young children to try and inspire them to be themselves.

"Different is good. So, don't fit in. Don't sit still. Don't ever try to do less than you are," she said. "When somebody tells you you're different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud. And as your villain, I would also say - cause a little trouble. It's good for you."

The Internet practically broke when the star's op-ed for The New York Times went viral.

She previously wrote about her decision to have a preventative double masectomy and now was sharing her experience of deciding to have her ovaries removed as another preventative measure.

Diary of a Surgery covers everything from first finding out she had a gene for ovarian cancer to explaining how she lost three important women in her life to the disease.

"A simple blood test had revealed that I carried a mutation in the BRCA1 gene. It gave me an estimated 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer. I lost my mother, grandmother and aunt to cancer," Jolie wrote.

And now she is speaking out and explaining her decision but not just for herself. She wants women to know the different options they have when they get a scary diagnosis like this.

"I wanted other women at risk to know about the options. I promised to follow up with any information that could be useful, including about my next preventive surgery, the removal of my ovaries and fallopian tubes," she wrote.
