Shonda Rhimes Kills Off Major Character From 'Grey's Anatomy'

Show creator Shonda Rhimes has received a lot of backlash after she killed off Patrick Dempsey's character Dr. Derek Shepherd.

As previously reported, Dr. Shepherd or to some, McDreamy, pulled over to help some injured civilians after witnessing a tragic accident. As fate would have it, while pulling away from the accident in his car, Derek reached down to look for his ringing cell phone and a huge truck then struck him.

In the last minute of the show, Shepherd's wife, Meredith, played by Ellen Pompeo, gives her husband permission to let go and sadly he succumbs to his injuries and passes away.

Fans of the show are now threatening to stop watching the show and they are also calling Rhime's a 'serial killer.'

It was recently reported that some fans are so devastated by McDreamy's death that they have launched a petition to have Rhimes bring Derek back from the dead.

Grey's Anatomy airs every Thursday night at 8 p.m. on ABC. Viewers can watch a sneak peek of this week's new two- hour episode in the video below.
