In a recent interview, the creators of The Good Wife, Michelle and Robert King, spoke about Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) unravelling and how the dramatic events will influence her character's nature in the finale.

The Good Wife Renewed For Two More Seasons?

Speaking to TV Guide, the duo affirmed that the concluding episodes of season 6 were meant to hearken back to the beginning of the first season, only this time she is in a scandalous spot herself.

"The parallel is supposed to be that that was in the aftermath of Peter's scandal and this is in the aftermath Alicia's scandal so, in theory, it's supposed to be much worse," Robert said. "Even though at one point in the series, Alicia said, 'if there are mistakes made again, I want to be the one who makes them.' I think now she has to face the fact that there were mistakes she made along the path to where she is now."

Michelle seconded the thought, adding that the situation was of course unfair, as Peter was guilty of his scandal, whereas Alicia was wrongfully framed. "The irony is that with Peter's scandal he was guilty of sleeping with prostitutes," she said. "In this case, Alicia was not guilty of fixing an election so it's a double hurt in that she is being victimized by something she didn't do."

Alicia is obviously going to learn from all of this, and while it seems like it might set her back some, this might also guide her back to being a more "humble" person. She had started to lose herself in the mire of the political game, which also hardened her core.

"I think one of the benefits, as Alicia says of this scandal is it's made her a bit humbled in her quickness to judge other people," Robert said. "I think that almost softens her character a bit because she can be a bit hard often."
