Criminal Minds has been renewed for another season, CBS revealed on May 11.

Jennifer Love Hewitt To Return For Season 12?

Season 11 of the CBS procedural is officially on. Show runner Erica Messer had given strong hints about the series continuing on into the next chapter, but she was careful.

In a recent interview with TVGuide, Messer unwittingly gave away some details about the renewal of the series.

Showrunner Dishes About Jennifer Love Hewitt's Decision To Leave Criminal Minds

Messer particularly addressed Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) romantic future on the show, but in the course she seemed to be looking ahead into season 11. Messer revealed that Reid wasn't going to get into a relationship with Agent Dorian Loker (Emily Churchill). She added that Churchill would not be coming back for the rest of this season, and later stated that there were no plans to feature her in season 11 either.

"It's been two years. Maeve is something that will never go away in his heart. We want him to smile again and we think everybody else does too," she said. "The fact that this quirky agent who speaks Russian is somebody he'd like to have coffee with - good on him. That's a great thing."

While talking about Reid's character arc she slipped that they might discuss his romantic life seriously at some point in the next season.

"But we will probably discuss it and figure it out at some point next season," she said.

Recently in another interview for Entertainment Weekly, Messer revealed that it was a good decision to reveal AJ Cook's, who plays Jennifer Jareau, pregnancy in the finale as it allows them to explain her character's absence in the first couple of episodes of season 11.

"We laid the groundwork for it, and then we can remind everybody in the premiere that she's on maternity leave," she said.

The season 10 finale, titled 'The Hunt,' brought back the criminal, "the creepy, internet stalker guy," the BAU was investigating in the first episode. The BAU put all its force behind rescuing Kate's (Jennifer Love Hewitt) niece Meg, who is held hostage by him.

The finale of Criminal Minds aired on May 6.
