A new recall has been announced by BMW that addresses the problem of parked cars not saying parked.

BMW of North America is recalling 45,500 of their 7-Series luxury sedans that are in model years 2005-2008.

The latest problem with the car is that when the vehicle is put in "park" it has a tendency to roll away. According to BMW, a software problem causes the automatic transmission to change from the proper gear. The software relates to the Comfort Access option on the 7-Series and the keyless ignition system.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Friday posted an official recall notice on their website: "If the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in neutral and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may roll away."

The BMW 7-Series is designed to automatically shift the gear into park when the driver stops the engine by pressing the Stop/Start ignition button. However, if the driver continues to press the button more than once it can make the system switch to neutral instead of putting the vehicle in park.

This is the second recall that BMW has made on their 7-Series vehicles.

The company sent out a notice last week that 7,485 in model years 2005-2007 needed to be recalled due to the doors not latching. The problem is reportedly due to a software problem on cars with both Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options.

BMW received 52 reports of vehicles rolling away starting in 2002 and the last incident occurred in July 2012.

BMW warned drivers to make sure they use their parking brakes and said dealers will not be able to correct the affected parking software until March 2013.
