Vanessa Hudgens did her best to keep Selena Gomez comfortable at the recent Met Gala.
During an appearance on Andy Cohen's late night show, Watch What Happens Live, a fan called in, wanting to know whether or not the Spring Breakers star guarded her longtime friend from her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
"Getting spicy now, aren't we?" Hudgens noted, before answering, "I mean, not really. Um, she's one of my best friends, and you just want to have your girlfriend's back, so that's what I did. We didn't try to avoid him or anything, but, I mean, no one really wants to see your ex-boyfriend."
Gomez and Bieber began dating in 2010 but broke up in late 2013. Although the couple have been seen together a number of times since then, they are currently split up, and Gomez was most recently linked to Zedd.
As for whether or not she enjoyed herself at the Gala, Hudgens told Cohen, "We had a lot of fun. I sat with Janelle Monae."
Although Gomez and Bieber didn't come into contact during the Met Gala, Bieber made his thoughts known about his ex-girlfriend as he made his way out of the bash. Talking to TMZ reporters, Bieber yelled, "Selena looked gorgeous at the Met Ball."
