Diesel has hinted at the film being set in New York before. In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor revealed that he was really brought in for "a story that follows this that takes place in New York."

The actor has generally been pretty forthcoming about details about the film, having also revealed its release date.

In an interview with MTV Diesel stated that Paul Walker was certain of a sequel for Furious 7.

"Paul used to say that ['Fast & Furious] 8' was guaranteed and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass," Diesel said.

He went on to place Walker in the next project beautifully stating that next film will be "from" him.

"So, if fate has it - fate, 'F8' - then you'll get it. 'Furious 7′ was for Paul; 8 is from Paul.'"

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
