Is The Young and the Restless about to lose a cast member?

Will Gabriel Come Clean To Chelsea About Who He Really Is On 'The Young and the Restless'?

It seems as though Avery Bailey Clark (Jessica Collins) may be on her way out of Genoa City.

Collins first appeared on the steamy CBS soap in July 2011 and is known for her legal work since she is a lawyer.

Presently on the soap, Avery is about to snap at her ex-husband Joe Clark (Scott Elrod) since he can actually apparently walk despite sustaining some injuries from when the ceiling at The Underground collapsed.

Collins, however, will apparently be exiting from the soap soon, yet the soap is keeping her exit story hush-hush.

Daytime Confidential reported Thursday that head writer Chuck Pratt Jr. needed to rewrite her exit storyline.

"What Chuck originally planned for Avery would have been the worst thing the soap had ever done," a source from set revealed, adding, "It would have been Armageddon."

On Friday, the site further dished on what Avery's exit story was initially about, which happened to be Avery lying about getting raped by her ex-husband. It's totally out of character for Avery since she's typically viewed as an upstanding character on the soap.

It's unclear where the exit storyline is going now, but it sounds like a good thing that the initial storyline was scrapped since it's definitely not something Avery would do.

Collins even sent out a tweet on Thursday when the news broke that she's leaving the soap.

"Overwhelmed by your love today on Twitter. Thank you," she stated.

Many fans are unhappy about her soon-to-be departure.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
