As usual, Lindsay Lohan's personal life has overshadowed her career over the last few weeks, but Tuesday brought a reminder that Lohan is in fact an actress with upcoming projects.

Most of the chatter surrounding Lohan this week has centered on the possibility that she will be formally charged for lying to police about a car accident she was involved in this summer, but on Tuesday a new trailer premiered for her upcoming film, "The Canyons."

The clip is intentionally over the top, using black and white footage and stereotypically dramatic 1950s soundtrack music to convey a tone of humor throughout.

Lohan stars in "The Canyons" alongside porn star James Deen, who is making his big-screen debut in the film. The movie was written by Bret Easton Ellis, the writer famous for novels like "American Psycho" and "Less Than Zero." Ellis was in contention to write the script for the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey," but until he was eliminated from the process earlier this year.

But before the release of "The Canyons" comes the premiere of "Liz & Dick," the Lifetime movie starring Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor. The film, set to premiere Nov. 25, chronicles the long and tumultuous romance between Taylor and Richard Burton.

Lohan was set to sit down with Barbara Walters for an exclusive interview on ABC's "20/20" to promote "Liz & Dick," but the chronically troubled actress canceled at the last minute.

Reports said Lohan and her new public relations team felt Walters would ask probing questions about Lohan's legal matters, which they didn't feel would be right for Lindsay to discuss at this time.

Instead, Lohan is set to be interviewed by Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
