Transformers 5 is now in its pre-production stage and the writers are currently brainstorming through ideas for the movie.

A Bumblebee Spin-off Is In The Works?

There have been some recent exciting developments in the larger Transformers universe, and if any of that would be imbibed in the sequel for Age of Extinction, there will be some pretty dramatic changes afoot.

The Transformers comic book and Hasbro have come out with a brand new all female crew of bots, and the first look at one of the characters, the fierce Victorion, was recently unveiled. What's interesting about this character, as was revealed by a USA Today report is that her story connects with that of where Optimus Prime's was left off at the end of the Age of Extinction sequel. Optimus was seen drifting off into outer space, headed to Cybertron in search of his creator. Now Victorion will also be exploring Cybertron but for different reasons, and with a different world view. While this will set the two apart, things could get exciting in Transformers 5 if this parallel story is pursued in Cybertron with Optimus and the new character Victorion.

Will Megan Fox Join The Age of Extinction Sequel?

As for the rest of the female Transformers Combiner crew, details haven't been revealed yet. But what like Optimus, Victorion is the leader of her pack, and her female warriors stay back on earth to help with any mortal conflict. The two forces -- of Optimus and Victorion -- could join to form an indomitable guard.

This development could also give the Transformers series a much needed feminist boost. It was also recently announced that two female writers -- Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer -- have joined the creative team that is conceptualizing the movie.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
