Sean Penn is reportedly moving on from his engaegment to Charlize Theron with Minka Kelly.

According to a new report, the 54-year-old actor recently took Kelly, 35, to Thomas Keller's eatery, The French Laundry, in Napa Valley, Calif. for a romantic, and "very pricey," birthday dinner.

"That was their first date, but it was a group setting," an insider told Us Weekly on Tuesday. "It was more of a 'let's see how this goes.'"

The magazine claimed Penn and Kelly initially met at an event for his Haiti relief organization J/P HRO, and enjoyed Kelly's birthday dinner with one of her female friends, as well as two others. In addition to the details given by Us Weekly, TMZ shared photos from the couple's alleged date.

"Minka and Sean got along great and had a great time, but it's unclear where it's going," Us Weekly's insider added.

Although Penn ended his engagement to Theron weeks ago, he hasn't written off the idea of marriage. In an interview with Esquire UK in March, Penn spoke of his future wedding.

"You say I've been married twice before, but I’ve been married under circumstances where I was less informed than I am today," Penn explained. "So I wouldn’t even consider it a third marriage, I’d consider it a first marriage on its own terms if I got married again. I mean, I like the tradition. A friend of mine wrote a line, 'Without tradition, new things die.' And I don’t want new things to die."
