NeNe Leakes has announced her departure from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta and none other than her former BFF Cynthia Bailey is the first of the cast to say something about it.

Bailey and Leakes' friendship began and ended on the hit reality series. Now that Leakes has stepped away, Leakes revealed if she thinks the show will be able to survive without her.

“Well the show has never been about one person. It’s just not what makes it work.” she told E! News during the ESSENCE Festival over the weekend.

She added that she’s actually ready to see the drama that will happen without Leakes around.

“Sometimes you gotta change it up and mix it up. I look forward to a really great drama-filled season.”

As for Leakes’ announcement via Instagram that she would be leaving the show, Bailey confessed she wasn’t that shocked.

“You know, I wasn’t super surprised because I used to be very close with NeNe so I knew that at some point, she wanted to do other things and rightfully so because I think she has had a great run on the show. In my opinion, she will always be the original Atlanta Housewife and I wish her well.”

She went on to say that she and Leakes do communicate every now and then. She even reached out after Leakes told her fans she was leaving the show. Now, Bailey is ready for new adventures and drama on the show in the upcoming eighth season.

“I am just excited for someone to come in who is a spit fire, someone who is not just gonna come in and check things out. I don’t know who yet but whoever you are, please audition for ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ We need you!”
