The third film in the Divergent franchise began filming in mid-May and apparently there were some issues with a certain scene just last month.

Allegiant: Part 1 will have plenty of action like the previous installments, but apparently a scene needed to be switched up for safety reasons.

Deadline reported Tuesday that 30 child actors on the Georgia set of the movie in June were put at serious risk during the filming of a battle scene.

The site reported that in the scene the child actors were scrambling through a gauntlet of over 100 untrained extras that were adults. These untrained adult extras were swinging varying weapons such as axes and machetes, but nobody was seriously harmed during the first day of shooting the intense scene.

Apparently a witness called attention to the battle scene setup and got the IATSE Local 479 in Atlanta involved to prevent the possibility of a serious incident occurring.

The witness revealed the weapons were in fact made of "steel and aluminum, with bladed edges, and some were quite sharp," when typically rubber weapons are used to prevent injury.

"Everyone seemed to know it was wrong, but no one was willing to speak up. To me, it seems that saving money - the expense of rubber props - took priority over safety. This particularly upset me because small children were involved. I personally saw four people trip and fall just because of the footing on the set, and several people were given medical care for heat exhaustion, which can cause fainting - and falling on these weapons is just as dangerous as swinging them into someone else during the chaotic scene," the witness explained in regard to the first day of filming the battle scene.

On the second day though the weapons were swapped out for rubber ones since the witness got IATSE Local 479 in Atlanta involved.

"I felt immense relief that I wouldn't see some child lose an eye or some extra get cut wide open by a blade as they ran around," the witness said, adding, "Local 479 made that set safe immediately."

A spokesperson for Lionsgate did reveal they are investigating this situation presently since they "take safety issues very seriously."

Allegiant: Part 1 is due out March 18, 2016!
