One of the contestants of America's Got Talent described what it feels like before auditioning for the show- it's definitely not easy.

On Sunday, Go Upstate posted an interview with Benton Blount who sang a stunning rendition of "Drift Away" by Dobie Gray, which made the judges and audience smile and dance along. As confident as he looked when he was on stage, Blount admitted that it's pretty nerve-wrecking to get up there.

"It was very intimidating," the singer said. "You never what it's really going to feel like until you walk out on that stage the first time. After that, it's too late to even think about it. It's 'do or die.'"

Blount then opened up on how he started singing in church, which kind of came with a surprise.

"I was visiting one day and they asked if I played an instrument," he said. "I said 'no,' and they asked if I would play bass if they bought it for me. I said 'sure,' but quickly realized I was horrible at it, but I would sing along to remember my spot. Once they heard me sing, I never picked up a bass again."

When Blount tried out for America's Got Talent, all four of the judges said yes. Howie Mandel, from the judges' panel, said, "Tonight is the beginning of that journey, of that dream, the thing you've been hoping for, it's a great moment."
