"American Pie" actor Seann William Scott broke up with fiance and former Victoria's Secret model Lindsay Frimodt after being engaged for almost a year, the actor's rep confirmed on Jan. 25.

"They remain friends," a source told Us Weekly of the breakup. "It was a very amicable split." 

A rep for Frimodt has not made a statement on the split. 

Scott, 35, proposed to Frimodt, 31, in early 2012 during a beach vacation. At the "American Reunion" premiere following the proposal in March, he told E! News, "I don't know how I got a girl like my fiancée."

"She hadn't seen 'American Pie.' Thank God. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't be engaged," he added.

The actor's latest role is in "Movie 43," which opened in theaters Jan. 25. The movie is a series a interconnected short films following three kids as they search the Internet to find the most banned movie in the world. Among the film's cast is Emma Stone, Richard Gere, Dennis Quaid, Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman. Scott is known for his role as Steve Stifler, the womanizer in the "American Pie" franchise starting in 1999. He also provided the voice for Opossum Crash in animated film "Ice Age: Continental Drift." 

He also starred in other comedies such as "Role Models," "Road Trip," "The Rundown" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, "Dude Where's My Car?" with Ashton Kutcher and "The Dukes of Hazzard." He has been romantically linked in the past to actresses January Jones and Jaime King.

Frimodt appeared in advertisements for Donna Karen, Zac Posen, Michael Kors, Giorgio Armani, and Calvin Klein, to name a few. The California-born model was also featured in Justin Timberlake's video for "I'm Lovin It."
