Katie Couric opened up on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show Wednesday about going on a date with Jeff Probst.

Couric was opening up about her romantic life when she mentioned the 51-year old Survivor host as a particularly memorable date from her past.

"He had puka shells on," she said, "That was kind of a weird thing."

Probst fired back in an email to Us Weekly. He said he "would have definitely asked for a second date," but he was never able to get her number.

"What I remember most about the date is how nervous I was and how little I offered to the conversation," Probst opened up, "We talked a bit about her kids and the challenges of being a parent to teenagers, and we talked a bit about our careers and lifestyles but we never got much beyond the surface."

He noted that the lack of a second date "wasn't lack of interest" on his part.

"The only reason I didn't call back was the date was set up through her assistant," he added, "It felt weird to call her assistant for a second date. So it never had a chance to be a romance. "

Probst concluded, "Who knows what might have been? But it's a date I definitely remember! I mean, come on, it's Katie Couric!"

Probst married Lisa Ann Russell in 2011. He is the stepfather of Russell's two children from her former marriage.

Couric also revealed on Stern's radio show that she went on a date with Bob Saget.

The former Full House star revealed at the Right to Laugh Comedy Fundraiser on Thursday, "I did a benefit with Katie Couric in New York and I went to dinner with her. She's a lovely person and we had a good time. I've seen her many times since."

Couric wasn't entirely upset that neither Probst nor Saget called her back, saying, "I thought they were both nice guys . . . I don't think there was real magic there with either [of them], but I enjoyed spending time with them."
