Cane and Lily may find themselves breaking up on The Young and the Restless according to one of the actors in the star crossed pairing.

Daniel Goddard, who portrays Cane Ashby on the popular daytime show forecast growing problems in his character's marriage. The actor told Soap Opera Network in an article published Thursday that Lily (Christel Khalil) may not be the only with straying eyes. The wife and mother has been spending more time with Tyler which has not gone unnoticed by her executive. Cane may soon be giving his beloved a taste of her own medicine when he crosses path with a new woman.

Y&R has cast Mishael Morgan as Hillary Curtis and first appeared in the role Friday. Hillary will be employed at Chancellor Industries and will cross paths with the C.E.O.

"I really like where they're going with this new character," Goddard said. "[The writers] mess well with the viewer, and I'm really enjoying it. There's good storyline there."

Goddard teased that the newcomer into Cane's orbit would be one more challenge for Lane to overcome. The two have already withstood Lily's bout with cancer and Cane's presumed eath. However, Cane has never been tempted by another woman.

"Cane and Lily have kind of usurped the norm of relationships, because they've gone through so much, and they've never cheated on each other," he said.

Goddard said that the fans have come to appreciate the couple because they have not fallen prey to the predictable soap staple of cheating. Still, he acknowledged that there would a doubt factor for the characters given the introduction of Hillary.

"They've build a fan base that respects that... and everything they've gone through - a year of cancer, through surrogating the babies, through the whole Cane/Caleb/Phillip Chancellor thing - we've gotten through that, which allows the drama of 'Will they get through this?' to somehow unfold more than other couples who get together, have a baby and then cheat," he said.

Goddard also extended high praise to his new co-star. He said that Morgan quickly found her footing.

"She's hit the ground running. It's a very tough job to fall straight into the rhythm of it, but she's doing a good job," he said.

Morgan is not the only new actor to join the CBS drama. Soap Opera Digest reported on Thursday that Leslie Stevens has been cast as the much talked about Rose Turner. She will begin airing July 25.
