The nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards have been announced.

Today at 11:30, Melissa Fumero and JB Smoove took to live stream to announce the next big contenders in TV's biggest awards.

What makes the Emmy Awards especially unique is that certain shows can win time and time again for different seasons. Ted Lasso and Hacks swept at last year's awards, and are back again for more.

Other shows are new to the line-up, inculding the record-brekaing phenomenon Squid Game and similarly obsession-worthy Only Murders in the Building. Each of these shows is already nominated in multiple categories.

It is also a banner year for historically-based limited-series. The Dropout, Inventing Anna, Dopesick, Impeachment: An American Crime Story, Pam & Tommy, and even The Great are once and for all solidifying our cultural obsession with televised retellings of true events.

This years slate of winners will be incredibly interesting for it will show us where we are trending in terms of genre. There has been a massive pull towards the murder-comedy genre. Could Only Murders in the Building  have a shot at beating out Ted Lasso for outstanding comedy series? Only time will tell.

We can't wait to watch the Emmy Awards on September 12th. For now, here are the other nominees that have been announced.
