The CW's The Originals will be returning this fall on a new night and with all new evil to face. Literally.

The Originals Season 1 Spoilers

Actor Joseph Morgan (Armistice, Master and Commander), who plays Klaus Mikaelson on the series, announced via Twitter last week that the show will return to the CW October 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Morgan also added the hashtag "Mikealson Mondays," a hashtag that could easily starting trending.

While the program will be keeping the 8 p.m. timeslot, it will be moving to Mondays. Formerly, the show aired on Tuesdays prior to the popular Supernatural. Coincidentally, The Vampire Diaries, had also been paired with Supernatural during its early seasons.

The Originals Season 1 Recap

The success of Morgan's portrayal of Klaus on The Vampire Diaries, as well as the compelling family dynamic between the "original" vampire and his siblings, inspired the spinoff series, which is helmed by the CW's Julie Plec.

According to recent reports, Season 2 will be darker than ever before. "We're going to see a very broken, a very lost Hayley," explained Phoebe Tonkin, who plays the mother of Klaus's child, the "miracle" baby. "It's sad and it's heartbreaking."

The birth of baby Hope brought the show's first season to a close last spring and Tonkin has told audiences that protecting her daughter will become Hayley's priority.

The season will also mark a shift in focus, relying more heavily on a more werewolf-driven plot. Then, of course, there are the witches, seemingly dead at the end of Season 1.

That is the thing about this genre though, from HBO's True Blood to the CW's Supernatural: Dead doesn't necessarily mean dead, and gone most certainly does not mean for good.

The Originals returns to the CW for Season 2 Monday, October 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
