A new report from the set of Terminator Genisys reveals the real cause of the warped timeline in the plot.

John Connor To Be The Villain In Terminator Genisys According To Leaked Script?

Slash Film states that different versions of the Time Displacement Machines will decide the course of events, and might even set things off, creating a whole lot of issues and contradictions in the movie. Three different TDMs from each era, 1984, 2017 and 2029 will decide the fate of things, and it is probably their clashing that will spin things into chaos. The report reveals that the film will take place in three time periods: 1984, 1995 and 2029.

This time warp also gives rise to a possibly iconic fight scene in the film, featuring Arnold vs. Arnold. The Guardian, the older version of Schwarzenegger's character will combat the T-800 from the original (1984). Both will be playing opposinf forces, as the Guardian is charged with protecting Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) while, as we know, the original younger T-800 is out to kill her.
