Canada may get a lot of slack from Americans, but the country which hugs the entire Northern border of the U.S. has certainly had success giving their neighbors to the South some of the best possible celebrities.

Between serious Hollywood heartthrobs, seriously good actors, musicians, and those who have managed to score roles on some of the hottest TV shows and movies over the years, several different celebrities initially or at some other point in their early lives called some part of Canada home.

In honor of Canada Day, here are our 10 favorite celebs from the North.

Ryan Gosling

Born: November 12, 1980 in London, Ontario

More than 10 years after he shot to immediate heartthrob status in The Notebook, The Gos is still one of the most lusted after actors in Hollywood...and he's shown some serious acting chops throughout the years as well.

Ryan Reynolds

Born: October 23, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia

Not only of our other hottest and most versatile actors, but one of the most ridiculous as well when it comes to being the better social media prankster with his wife, Blake Lively.

Rachel McAdams:

Born: November 17, 1978 in London, Ontario

Formerly of 'McGosling' and Mean Girls fame, McAdams has not only managed to still be one of the hottest actresses working these days, but she's also shown a tougher and grittier side of herself with roles including Detective Ani Bezzerides on HBO's True Detective.

Justin Bieber:

Born: March 1, 1994 in London, Ontario

Granted most of us spend a lot of time wishing Canada would ask for him back, but whenever his antics get him in trouble it's seriously fun watching it unfold in the press. And besides, we do have to give him some credit for his massive success early on, as well as his sparking a trend with his old haircut.

Cory Monteith:

Born: May 11, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta

Sadly Canada did take back the Glee star who found himself thrust into the hearts of millions of 'Gleeks' with the one-time FOX smash hit musical dramedy, as well his romance with co-star Lea Michele. He passed away due to a drug overdose while visiting his old country in July 2013.

Cobie Smulders:

Born: April 3, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia

The actress best known for her roles in The Avengers and How I Met Your Mother managed to find a way to make fun of her own roots with her hilarious role on the former CBS sitcom, which hinted that her character Robin had a pretty screwed up childhood simply because she was Canadian.

Seth Rogen:

Born: April 15, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia

The funnyman known mainly for stoner comedies also hails from the Great White North.

Taylor Kitsch:

Born: April 8, 1981 in Kelowna, British Columbia

The actor stole fans hearts in Friday Night Lights, and seriously knows how to pull off the dark and brooding thing on True Detective.

Shay Mitchell:

Born: Born April 10, 1987 in Mississauga, Ontario

Honestly, Pretty Little Liars would not be the same without her.

Drake:

Born: October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario

In case you didn't know, the Degrassi star turned rapper is originally from Toronto
