After receiving lots of criticism for her choice, Mai took to her Instagram to respond (just before Braxton’s post). She made it clear she doesn’t stand by Trump’s comments, but didn’t want to “abandon” the ladies who “need our support now more than ever.”

Despite Trump’s statement, Mai said she believes that the Miss Universe organization still “celebrates different cultures.”

She ended her lengthy post and asked fans to remember what’s really important, which is women from around the globe coming together for a common cause while celebrating their different backgrounds.

Braxton was one of the thousands to comment. She first told Mai to “have several [seats].”

But she added another comment and set the record straight that they were not beefing with one another. They simply didn’t agree.
