There is currently speculation over the future of Katie Couric's daytime program.

The Today show veteran may not receive a third season renewal for Katie on ABC, the New York Post reported on June 8.

Sources said that both a "lack of leadership" and "staffing weirdness" have escalated following the departure of executive producer Jeff Zucker. He left the afternoon program last January in favor of a position as worldwide president for CNN.

Katie first launched in Septermber of 2012 but has apparently been oversold at syndication and is not drawing in the expected ratings, according to a source with the publication. Because of this, turnover in the staff is high.

The program was renewed for a second season near the end of January, according to The Huffington Post. At the time, Deadline reported that the show had just seen 19 weeks at the top of the rankings for freshman syndicated talk show.

However, Couric intimated that she wished to have less fluff pieces and gravitate more towards the news end of the spectrum. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Couric was heard claiming that she would not "compromise her journalistic brand and that she wants to have fun but also do meaningful work." This may be a smart move following the 30 percet ratings jump the show saw over the previous four week average collowing Couric's interview with Manti Te'o and his family, according to Deadline.

Apparently sources close to Couric deny the rumors of a impending season 3 cancelation, reported the Post.
