Justin Bieber's new tattoo is a nod to his mother Pattie Mallette always looking out for him, the singer wrote on Instagram Wednesday along with a photo of his latest ink job.

The tattoo spans across the insides of Bieber's elbow and is an image of a person's eye, shadowed around the inner and outer creases of the eye lid. The 19-year-old Beauty and a Beat singer captioned the photo reveal, "did this art .,Moms always watching ;)" He added that the tattoo was done by Bang Bang NYC, which has its store on 26 Clinton St.

The tattoo parlor confirmed the photo is Bieber when it uploaded onto its official Instagram account the same image with the caption, "Close up of @justinbieber arm."

The Instagram photo was "liked" 522,000 times at time of publication. The "Eye" tattoo lies right above Bieber's "Believe" ink lettering and image of a knight in armor standing in front of a castle.

The new design is the singer's 16th tattoo in just three years, according to The Huffington Post.

Mallette visited the Today show on July 9 and talked about her "strong-willed" son, saying she talks to Bieber every day and tries to guide him in the right direction.

"Of course. I talk to Justin. I text him and I call him every day, as much as you can for an adult child that doesn't live with you," she said. "He knows what I think. We talk. He knows what I think. It's stuff that obviously I can't share with the whole world, but we definitely talk. I hope I'm still a big voice in his ear."

She told The View two days later that she is not always in agreement with Bieber's actions, but she encourages him to "stay true to who he is," and stay grounded and humble.
