Jerrod Carmichael hosted Saturday Night Live last weekend and he DEFINITELY talked about, "it."

"It," of course refers to the events of last Sunday nights Oscar Awards. After Chris Rock made a G.I. Jane joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's hair, Will Smith stormed the stage, struck the comedian in the face, returned to his seat, and continued yelling profanities. "It," has been all anyone has been talking about for the last week.

In his opening monologue for the late night sketch show, according to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, Lorne Michaels came into Carmichael's dressing room and told him he had to talk about, "it," in order to, "heal the nation."

In the monologue his comedian quipped, "'Heal the nation'? I've been gay for like 48 hours, bro? There's so much gay stuff I gotta do before I can heal the nation. I've got so many homophobic cousins - I can't even heal my family." This is in reference to Carmichael coming out as gay in his new special Rothaniel.

A large part of Saturday night's show was spent talking about the Oscars slap. There were reinactments and multiple jokes made on Weekend Update. The notorious nature of last week's actions were also poked fun at slightly by Colin Jost who quickly said, "for those of you who don't know." There were a solid five minutes of jokes exclusively in regards to the slap.

Lorne Michaels is right. The best way to heal is to laugh about it, and isn't that what Saturday Night Live is for?
