CBS is working on another NCIS spin-off series that will be introduced in a two-part episode airing sometime in the spring, Deadline reported Monday.

NCIS franchise Executive Producer Gary Glasberg and cast member Mark Harmon will be behind the project. The potential series will reportedly start filming in February and will be set in the NCIS New Orleans, La. office.

The New Orleans office handles cases from Pensacola, Fla. through Mississippi, Louisiana and part of Texas, according to the report. The city's heavy musical influence and entertaining atmosphere makes it an intriguing place for military personnel on leave.

If the new venture were to become a show, it would be the second NCIS spinoff. NCIS: Los Angeles, which stars LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell, launched in 2008.

Executive Producer Gary Glasberg Addresses Cote de Pablo's Departure

The NCIS season 11 premiere airs Tuesday and the season will include the departure of Ziva David's character, played by Cote de Pablo.  The actress announced her decision to leave the show in July.

Ziva's exit will focus significantly on her relationship with Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), one that fans refer to "Tiva." The two have had romantic tension since Ziva entered the series in season 3.

"I found the first two episodes immensely satisfying. I was very surprised by the things I read in those scripts," Weatherly recently told TV Line. "I love working with Cote, she's awesome - but also it's been eight years, and we haven't dealt with it. It will be dealt with."

It was confirmed that Ziva will not be killed off. Instead, executives will find another way to say goodbye to the beloved character.

"It's not what this character deserves," Glasberg told TV Line. "Also, [we killed off] Sasha Alexander's Kate character [back in season 2] and I like the idea of doing this one a little different and respecting who [Ziva] is."
