Couples who don't appear to make sense or fit well together have constantly made the spotlight in Hollywood. While some -- like Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis, or Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney -- seem to make it work despite the odds against them, others have eventually parted ways due to their differences.
Some manage to keep their relationships completely intact, despite constant interest in how they wound up together and speculation on when their differences will rip them apart. Julia Roberts went on to have a very successful marriage and family life with husband Danny Moder. On the other hand, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt successfully stayed together despite burning bridges with everyone else in their lives.
Some of the more successful couples have tended to keep their relationships private, though sometimes even the secretive relationships can't overcome the fundamental differences in them. Several celebrity relationships happened on the set of a movie or a television show. Despite their off-screen romances coming to an end, many exes have remained friends.

The first is Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison.
When the Green Mile star married Stodden in 2011, the biggest question on everyone's mind was how the 51-year-old actor wound up marrying a girl who was only 16 at the time. The two announced their split in November 2013 after two years of marriage. Stodden, now 19, realized that she wasn't ready to settle down yet.
