Guardians of the Galaxy, already the biggest film of the year, continued its improbable assault on the box office, collecting $10.2 million to lead all films after a month in theaters.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," last weekend's most popular film, collected ticket sales of $28.4 million to top the U.S. and Canadian box office rankings for a second consecutive week, beating "Guardians of the Galaxy" in a battle of superhero misfits.
"Ride Along," a buddy cop comedy starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, collected $41.2 million in ticket sales to win the weekend box office race, leaving another new release, political thriller "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," in the dust.
The dwarfs and elves of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" prevailed at the North American box office again over the weekend, as its $32.9 million in ticket sales topped both the star-packed musical "Les Miserables" and the western "Django Unchained."
