Game of Thrones fans who will be heartbroken when the series eventually comes to an end on HBO are getting a bit of good news-the show will get a a movie adaptation.

A Mystery Role Is Cast

George R.R. Martin, the author of the books the TV series is based off of, has confirmed the news, saying a big-screen adaptation would be in the works after the series ended its run on TV, though he won't be involved with it.

"There will be a movie but I will not be involved," Martin said, admitting that his reason for not being involved is because he is currently writing the final two books in his series.

HBO Execs Confirm Jon Snow Is Dead

"I have too much to do. That is something HBO and D.B. and David are dealing with," he continued. "I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don't write faster."

An unnamed production source has also confirmed the news, though they did speculate the story could go back in time.

"With the Game of Thrones universe, there is much rich material and no constraints on when that story will take place," the source said. "They are looking at dipping back in time during certain periods of the series, which could be examined as a one off plot. That means that some of the big characters who fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected such as Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Oberyn Martell and Ned Stark."
