British musician Ed Sheeran is known for penning excellent songs for himself as well as his pals in One Direction.

One Direction Announces Event The London Session For Fifth Album!

Sheeran has been included in three of the boy band's first four albums with "Moments" on Up All Night; "Little Things" and "Over Again" on Take Me Home; and "18" on FOUR.

He didn't write anything for their third LP Midnight Memories and he has gone that route once more for their soon-to-be released fifth album Made In The A.M. and he has a big reason why.

"They've gotten to a point where they know how to write songs," Sheeran recently told MTV News.

He added that when he first met Harry Styles, the youngest 1D member was only 16 and songwriting wasn't something he was used to doing.

"Now he's 21 and has written with everyone in the world and learned how to write songs, so they don't really need as much help anymore," Sheeran explained, adding, "They can kind of do their own thing."

The 24-year-old musician didn't even intend on writing for FOUR.

"I was in Denmark and I wrote it in my hotel bathroom and I was like, 'This sounds like a One Direction song,'" he shared, adding, "And I emailed it to them, and they were like, 'I really like it,' so it wasn't even me having to write a song. It was just like, 'I'll see what they think.'"
