These reports slightly contradict Diesel's latest update on the movie via a Facebook post where he had suggested that he was also considering the director of the original, The Fast and the Furious, Rob Cohen. Adding that it has been a wish of Paul Walker's to bring Cohen back to direct one more movie in the franchise.

In the post Diesel also revealed that while Justin Lin -- who has directed three Fast and Furious films -- was in the running, the director has his hands full with next Star Trek movie.

In a previous Facebook post Diesel had addressed accusations of his high standards and trouble with some directors being the cause of delays in starting filming.
