She went on to reiterate how important it was for them to find that strong reason to go on with the eigth instalment, which would also mean finding the best director they can get.

"For us, as a cast, I think we need a reason, and it needs to have heart, so hopefully we'll find it, you know? And somebody who's passionate about directing it - I think that's the most important thing is finding a good director."

In a previous interview with ET Online, Rodriguez dished about what fans can look forward to in Fast and Furious 8.

For one, she seemed to confirm that the movie would be set in New York City, something Vin Diesel has strongly hinted at in previous interviews. She also added that there was so much potential to be tapped in the City for a movie like Fast and Furious 8. As she listed the pros of NYC, she mentioned the Hells Angels.

"New York's just like a melting pot," she said. "There is so much to discover there. Motor cycle cruise, everything from the Hell's Angels home, you've got a lot that you can play with in New York."

Fast and Furious 8 will release April 15, 2017.
