The Vampire Diaries returns with a brand new season Thursday (that's tomorrow!).

Why Are The Salvatore Brothers 'Forced To Be A Team' During New 'Vampire Diaries' Season?

Based on all the teases in regard to storylines over the last few months since the sixth season wrapped airing, fans of the supernatural TV series know there will be plenty of drama, banter, awkwardness and action amongst the characters they love and the new ones (hello, heretics!).

The CW Television Network's YouTube channel actually shared a sneak peek into the premiere episode, "Day One of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give or Take," revolving around a fan-favorite kind of couple Steroline (yes, that's Caroline portrayed by Candice King and Stefan portrayed by Paul Wesley).

In the sneak peek, which is below, Caroline and Stefan send out major awkward vibes.

Stefan actually surprises Caroline as he shows up next to the bench she's sitting on. She's so wrapped up in writing in what looks like her own diary that she doesn't notice him until he speaks. It's clear she's honoring Elena's (Nina Dobrev) wish for her and the others to write down what they're up to while she's gone.

After Stefan breaks the ice of asking Caroline what she's writing, Caroline instantly gets nervous, asking what he is doing there.

"Matt [Zach Roerig] reported some blood bags missing from the hospital so I thought I'd check it out," Stefan reveals, which leads to talk of Lily (Annie Wersching).

The real awkwardness presents itself as Caroline finds herself asking about Damon (Ian Somerhalder), which leads to a bit of an extremely awkward exchange followed by uncomfortable silence.

Stefan will then take a seat next to Caroline on the bench and address the elephant they're tiptoeing around.

"I made this a thing, didn't I?" he'll ask her, but at first she'll kind of deny it, asking, "You made what 'a thing'?"

Stefan won't hold back as he explains himself.

"I told you how I felt about you and now it's, it's weird," he'll divulge, which will lead to more denial from Caroline.

He'll of course get the truth out of her that he did in fact create "a thing" that is incredibly awkward, but it will lead to the implementing of a new condition between them.

"All right, how about this, new rule, you live your life, you heal and in the meantime we're friends," Stefan dishes, which leaves Caroline content.

Stefan will then walk away after telling her, Happy writing!"

The series returns to The CW for season 7 on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
