Eva Longoria is set to executive produce and star in an upcoming adult animated comedy series.

Longoria will be the force behind the cartoon "Mother Up!" on CityTv in Canada. In the primetime series she will portray Rudi Wilson, a former high-powered music executive who experiences parental challenges in the suburbs.

"She's a crazy, irresponsible mother, that all mothers fear they are," Longoria told The Hollywood Reporter. "She barely keeps her kids alive with bizarre, improvised solutions to the endless challenges of parenting."

Longoria shared why she is excited to be working on a voice-over gig in television.

"I always find you have so much more freedom as an actor with your voice when you're hiding behind an animated character, as opposed to live action," she said.

CityTv will run 13 episodes of "Mother Up!" slated to air in the fall of 2013. The network already features popular American comedy series' such as "Modern Family" and "2 Broke Girls."

"Mother Up!" will be written, produced and voiced in Canada. The gig is Longoria's first return to television since she played supermodel-turned-housewife Gabrielle Solis on the series "Desperate Housewives" for eight years before the show ended in May of 2012.

Since the ABC series, Longoria has appeared in several films, including "The Baytown Outlaws," "The Truth" and "Frontera."

Longoria is set to host a pre-inaugural event the day before President Barack Obama's inauguration later this month, CBS News reported. The actress will join comedian George Lopez, "Extra!" correspondent Mario Lopez and actress Rita Moreno at the "Latino Inaugural 2013: In Performance at the Kennedy Center." The event will take place on Jan. 20.

Longoria, a co-chair of Obama's inauguration festivities, spoke at 2012 Democratic National Convention in September where she endorsed President Obama's reelection.
