The legendary and much-missed Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) has already made her return to Days of Our Lives for the show's ongoing 50th celebration, but could her believed to be dead husband be an unexpected and surprise guest as well?

Sami arrived back in Salem over less than ideal circumstances, just one year to the day after EJ (James Scott) was murdered. This time, she is back because now her son, Will (Guy Wilson) was also murdered, the third victim of the Necktie Killer. And as she has been coping with her grief over the situation, she was presented with something unexpected-a letter from EJ that has given her some new hope.

For now she isn't acting on anything because she needs to focus on burying her son, but Sami could decide to follow the instructions EJ carefully laid out in his letter to her-perhaps in the hopes of finding him once again, alive and well and hidden away somewhere-a theory that has been floated around as a potential surprise for fans that the show has been tight-lipped about.

The possibility of an Ejami reunion became stronger when Scott and Sweeney reunited to create a video for a Syrian refugee who was a big fan of the show and was interviewed on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The two reunited in a scene created just for the fan, where they pretended EJ came back from the dead for his wife, incorporating elements from his actual on-screen death. Both actors then also commented on the refugee crisis. Fans were delighted to learn of the reunion, because it showed the possibility that both could return to the show once again.

However, it is unlikely that if there were a chance EJ could come back for a surprise appearance during the 50th anniversary, that he would stick around for very long. Not only is Sami only back for a limited time (Sweeney retired from the show last year after more than 20 years), but Scott didn't seem to want to make a return last year before his character was killed off.

He also addressed the refugee video on his Twitter page, where he referred to it as fun, but called it a "last" appearance.

However, he did follow that tweet up with a more hopeful sounding one, where he said "Ejami" wasn't necessarily over.

Days of Our Lives air Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
