'Vikings' Season 4: Is There A Massive Time Jump Coming? PHOTOS Hint At Midseason Twist

The Twin Peaks-esque series caused a stir last summer, and the futuristic mystery will get to play out the second chapter of its story now that Fox has handed down the order for a sophomore run.

"We were absolutely blown away by the mysterious and surprising world that [M. Night Shyamalan] and his team created, and the twisting-and-turning storytelling that drew viewers in from day one," Fox Entertainment President David Madden said of the network's interpretation of Blake Crouch's novel, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Season Two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can't wait for our fans to continue that ride next year."

While showrunner Chad Hodge won't return for season 2, he did dish on his hopes for season 2. Now that the First Generation is in charge, Wayward Pines is in for a whole host of new problems. Whereas Ethan once woke up in a strange town, his son is now doing the same.

"It's meant to be full circle that Ben is now experiencing, in a way, exactly what his father experienced when he came to Wayward Pines," Hodge told Entertainment Weekly. "Not that much has changed, but in fact, things have maybe gotten a little worse."
