Wayward Pines left the gates swinging open for a second season as the explosive events of "Cycle" faded into the past.

The Fox series was conceived as a 10-episode mini series, but ratings have led the network to consider the possibility of a sophomore run. While Fox has yet to order another season, executive producers Chad Hodge and M. Night Shyamalan followed up the finale with a few words about the future.

"We have an idea we've discussed," Shyamalan teased of season 2, according to Deadline. "That's all I'll say."

With the adults in stasis and the First Generation at the wheel, violence has somehow managed to engulf the town once more when Ben (Charlie Tahan) awakens from his three-year nap. Clearly knowing what's outside the fence doesn't keep reckoning from happening on the norm. If the series continues, it appears Ben will have to decide whether or not to pick up where his father left off.

"Hopefully, he will do the right thing and maybe he will be able to change things. Or maybe this is the way things should be," Hodge told The Hollywood Reporter.

For now, however, Hodge reminds viewers that the future is completely up to them.

"What Ben does and how he responds will be up to your imagination to decide," Hodge explained. "There is no official season two yet, no talks yet. Nothing to report on that front."
