Outlander's Sam Heughan is ready to part with his flowing locks. What's more, he'd like the haircut to go down on screen.

The Highlander's fiery mane has been around since day one, and if it were up to Jamie, a razor would never touch his head. Heughan however, is of a slightly different opinion.

"Yes, I would love to cut my hair," Heughan teased in an interview with Essential TV. "I think it's an integral part of Jamie. It would have been nice to play it in the show, maybe; somehow, somewhere."

From the actor's statements, it appears as if Jamie will close out season 2 looking much the same as he does at the start. It does, however, appear as if the Outlander powers that be have discussed a trim in the past. While it clearly won't happen anytime soon, Heughan is still has high hopes for future filming.

"Maybe it will still come to pass, without giving away too much," the Scotsman teased.

Reunite with Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) when Outlander returns to Starz on April 9.
